Hey everyone!
We're on the road to Michigan! It's hard to believe two weeks of traveling have already gone by. The church we were at this week was one that the team has never been to before so we didn't know what to expect, but it was great! I stayed with a wonderful family with four young children (my cup of tea). One of the little boys had his 7th birthday on Wednesday and as some of you might know my little brother Nolan's birthday was on Friday. All week he reminded me of Nolan and when we were about to leave today, he gave me the biggest hug. Friday night, two minutes before our last service was supposed to start, our sound system cut out. We couldn't get our mics or anything to work so we went on stage with no mics and our music playing through our portable speaker. But I learned a lesson even from something so small: to not let our egos get too big because we think we sound good, because God can always take that away. Ali (our sound girl) makes us blend by turning our mics up or down so without that...who knows what we sound like! A humbling experience for sure. This week Alyssa, Chelsea, and I are staying with Lindsay. All four of us worked on op staff together last summer and considered ourselves
"The Fantastic Four".
Needless to say, we're a tad excited to spend the whole week together. We saw God working so greatly this week! I'm in the group that was in prayer this week so every time Ardy dismissed the kids and teens for their programs, my group went to an empty room and spent the whole sermon time in prayer for what God was doing in the service. It was such a blessing to be involved in and I've never done something like that so it was so awesome to see God work.
We always have a little meeting around 6pm to go over the service schedule for the night and on Tuesday night while Ardy was talking to us he caught me yawning...well he wound up giving us Wednesday morning completely off of classes to study and rest. Which was such a blessing, even though I didn't take a nap it was still relaxing. Thursday afternoon the whole team was invited to the pastor's and the girls were also invited to go on a little shopping trip in Grand Rapids. So, half of us girls went shopping and the other half went to the pastor's house. Those of us that went shopping were given an envelope from an anonymous person with around $10 for each of us to spend. The little town of Grand Rapids had antique shops, candy shops, and coffee shops. It was darling. Friday night the church secretary invited the entire church congregation to a bonfire at her home after the evening service, which was really fun. We sang, ate s'mores, talked, played cops and robbers, and stared into the fire for hours. :)
Now it's Saturday morning and we're heading to Michigan. We got to sleep in a little bit this morning and got on the road at around 11:30. I am anticipating a fantastic week at Shelby Bible Church and I can't wait to share our experiences when I write my next post! If you can continue praying with me for finances I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you all and see you soon!
