Well, hey everyone!
We're officially on the road!! I can't believe how fast the past 6 weeks have gone...it's been such a blurr. This past week we made the total number of songs we learned 28. Because of a men's retreat starting on Friday, the girls had to move from our dorm to two other rooms so our schedule last week was totally different from what we've been used to. We had only one actual class all week and the rest of the time usually spent in class was spent packing for the road and moving our things to the other rooms, going over teens and kids programs, and drama practice along with the usual 3 or 4 hour rehearsals. On Tuesday night we surprised the team guys with a scavenger hunt and wii party just for them. All day was spent cleaning, baking, and decorating. It was such a great night, thanks to the fantastic planning of one of the girls on the team, as well as the guys ability to make things 10 times more fun than they would usually be. Wednesday morning we had off of all classes and the girls spent the morning moving, packing, and cleaning while the guys worked outside. This past week I've finally noticed that it's easier for me to hit higher notes now! I've had a hard time stretching my voice in the past but apparently that's what happens when you sing 3-4 hours a day! Last week was full of tons of teens and kids program prep and practice. All of the team members are in all of the programs this year except for the few that are in charge of those specific programs. On Wednesday night the Van Dyck's (camp director and Ardy's son-in-law) invited the whole team to their house where they gave us snacks and we got to spend time together for the evening. I had a giant plastic spider thrown at me several times which resulted in me screaming and then laughing so hard (out of nervousness) that I cried. Well, if they didn't already know that about me...I guess they do now! Did I tell you all that we're recording a CD this year? On December 9th and 10th we will be! Right now Phil, our music director/teacher, is trying to decide which songs we will put on it...I wish we could record them all! If you are interested in buying a CD after it is recorded and available the information should be on {www.encounterrevival.org}.
This past week we also found out that we are getting an extra 2 weeks of Christmas break for the specific purpose of working and saving up money. By the end of Christmas break we were given a specific number that needs to be in our support account here at camp. The number is pretty overwhelming but I know that God provides for His servants, and that He is faithful and in control of all things and even something as big as this need... is small to Him! I'm thankful for the constant example that my fellow team members have of trusting for finances...when we have a random meeting or announcement about Africa and the finances needed I might get overwhelmed but the people around me look completely at peace. I am so convicted yet encouraged by those around me and the trust that they have in God.
Today we had driven about an hour before one of the tires popped on Ardy and Jean's trailer and we had to pull over for about an hour to fix it. Now we are on our way to Honesdale, PA once again. I'm a little bit nervous to stay in my first host home but I know it will be fine and I'm excited to finally get into the new schedule of things. This first full week at a church, my group is helping in kids klub, and I am so excited! I've wanted to help with the kids program since I worked op staff a few years back, and I'm so happy that I get to this year. This week I reorganized the closet that I am sharing with a friend probably 3 times, along with my suitcase and backpack. Now I'm very satisfied with how it looks and I know it will be easy to find everything. :) Haha...what can I say? I love being organized. Like I said, I'm very excited to experience this first week on the road and I know the whole team is anticipating a great week of ministry. Thank you all for your prayers and support...I wouldn't be here without you. I would appreciate it if you would continue to keep me and the team in your prayers not just in the areas I mention but also in areas that you think of because I know there are many ways that the devil can get in the way of our purpose and mission.
Thank you again and love to you all!
